Looking at the video and pictures of Belle you can see how much love she had and was surrounded by. I thank you for finding the strength to share your story and turn a tragedy into an important message for so many parents of small children. I live in the United States and while Yes our laws our stricter they are still not universal from state to state. You're also right that parents are not educated enough about the right way to install car seats and their proper use. My daughter is 13 months old and I was eager to put her into a forward facing child seat; Thank Goodness my sister-in-law stepped in. She informed me that a rear-facing seat for children up to 35 lbs. is actually best for the child because they "ride" with an accident instead of being jolted while forward facing. She also informed me that child seats with a bar or T-Lap belt fastening are also not safe because the child's head can hit the bar and the body is not braced well enough with a T-strap. I just find it interesting that carseat manufacturer's still make these models of car seats  (for cheaper prices of course) while tests show they're not safe. I hope that Australia will change their safety standards and that Britax will raise their weight limits for Australia soon. I hope that they do this for the safety of Australia's children and in honor of Isabelle and other children that have lost their lives too soon. I have a 4 year old daughter, who still sits in a booster with a five point harness and the LATCH system. She is not heavy enough to use just the seat belt thank goodness. I think that when she does get over 40 pounds (when I have to take out the five point harness) I will just let her sister use it, and purchase a Britax, or some other brand that goes higher.

I hope the laws in Australia are changed to protect the children. Here in Florida, according to the law, my daughter doesn't have to use a car seat at all because she is 4 years old. We still do, because she is so little. She is about 1 meter tall if I remember correctly 1 meter is around 36 inches. I think that I might look into changing that law. Someone tried to change it before: they wanted anyone 57 inches and under to use a booster.  Even if it just states 4 years old and 40 pounds, that would help some. Although here many parents are careless about using car seats at all, even for babies.

Hi. First of all I'd like to say I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I have two sons, 3 and 5, and I have major problems choosing a safe way to transport them. I live in Brazil and here we don't have the LATCH system. I'm currently using a booster for my 5 yo but I find it unsafe. The bigger boosters are too expensive and too bulky. Then I found out about an innovative product that uses a flexible material in the back, and that can be used till 10yo. The fact that it's flexible prevents the seatbelt crushing the child's organs, as it happened to your sweet little girl. It has been developed by one of the most important Brazilian universities and it is now in the market here. I still hasn't bought mine, but I plan to. It costs more than a regular booster but far less than a fancy one. I guess it can hold grown ups too. The website is only in Portuguese, but you can check the pictures and click on "Videos" to watch the crash test.

Belle your fairy garden at school has a new windmill in it. It looks so pretty. The garden is getting very good now lots of pretty flowers are growing. we moved over the weekend, and my mummy tells me that your family is moving too. My mum says a house is just a house and that the people that live there are what make the happy memories, so I know your family are taking their happy memories of you with them. My Story to Belle  / Sky Carrall (Friend)

Dearest Bella,

This is a story that I have wanted to write to you for a long time, it takes me a long time to type things on the computer!  Mummy ended up typing the rest of this story for me, cause I was a bit slow!

I really miss you being around Belle, I enjoyed the times we spent together.  Here is my story:

Once upon a time there was four ponies. One's name was Belle, one's name was Inari, one's name was Madeleine, one's name was Sky.  There was two magical horses their name's are Laura and Hannah.  They all loved to play together, sometimes they even got up to a little bit of mischief!

Laura and Hannah didn't often use their powers, but today they did.  Belle, Inari, Maddy and Sky all went for a long walk in the forest. Belle and Inari walked off because they went looking for fairies under the red and white polka dotted mushrooms, they were very excited when they saw a tiny baby elf skipping around.  Maddy and Sky were trying to catch some beautiful butterflies, they were very quitely creeping up to the butterflies, finallly they caught one they were so delighted.  They found a glass jar with a lid, so they caught the butterfly in that to take hom and show Laura and Hannah.  The only problem was that they realised they were lost.  

Laura and Hannah noticed that the four ponies had been gone for a long time so they used their magic powers to try and see where they were, but they couldn't see them anywhere.  Laura and Hannah got very worried so they flew off to try and find them.  They saw four ponies, so they landed, but it wasn't them.  So they flew off again and then they found them!  They were so happy that they all danced around in circles!

Laura and Hannah walked the ponies home and they were all so tired they went to bed without any dinner!

I Went for a visit to see you today Belle. Your mummy and Daddy are very special. They told me I could come back another day and play with Maddy and hear some special stories about you. They let me pat your Rabbit and baby Guinea pigs and best of all your Mummy gave me a sunshine care bear, and a pretty picture of you to have with me always. I saw your special place and your favourite things and I was sad, but I didn't cry because I didn't want your mummy and daddy to be sad today. My mum said I was a bit quiet, but I was a bit shy and was trying to be good so I didn't say very much. I am so happy that I had a visit with you, I tell mum that I know you are with me because I can feel you in my heart, and now thanks to your mummy I can have your picture with me always.
I miss you Belle and wish you could be here with me again, but always remember I love you. Briney xxxxx Close

Britney and I went shopping today, she now has a new safer seat. She told the lady at the shop that she had to get one because of what happened to her friend. The lady at the shop said they have had an influx of people coming in since Isabelle's story. You should be proud it seem's like the public are listening and a lot more little angels will be safer. Having just read through this overwhelmingly emotional site I am sobbing and feel sick that such a precious little girl has been lost to our world through lack of laws and information.

I am too overwhelmingly grateful to you Angel Belle and to you her parents for Belle's Gift and Legacy.  I am the extremely proud Aunty of two gorgeous four year old twins.  Whilst they are still in, and able due to their small size to fit in, the harnessed car seats that have been in my parents' car since they were babies they have been in booster seats in both of their parents' cars for some time now.  Only just recently my parents purchased two booster seats to place in my car as starting next week I will be picking up/and or dropping off my precious nieces at kindy at least once a week.  Whilst deciding on which booster seats to buy we thought we'd done our research well.  We bought booster seats that came up tops in all the safety studies, have the full back and side protection, have the height adjustable headrest, have belt guides to reduce the risk of the girls getting their arms out of the belt, are anchored to the car and will allow them to use the booster seat until they are significantly older.  They weren't cheap but I felt so confident with our purchase as the booster seats seem far safer and secure than the ones in their parents' cars.  I had no idea that an adult belt could actually be dangerous to a child of their age and size.  Whilst reading Belle's story though I could immediately picture how a gap between the girls' body and the belt could present a danger and cause injury in even a low impact crash.  The weekly drive on which I will be transporting my nieces is literally a five minute drive but I now know that during that five minute drive their safety is at risk.  I WILL NOT be going to pick up those precious nieces of mine on Monday until I have been to purchase two of the 'H' harnesses to attach to the seatbelt and use in conjunction with their seats so as to help keep them more snugly into their seats and to disperse the pressures placed on their body should an impact occur.  Knowledge is power and thanks to the gift of Belle and your sharing of her story I now have it within my power to better protect my precious nieces with whom I have been given the privilege of being involved with caring for.

My thanks to you, Belle's family, for sharing her with all of us and for giving me a gift and a lesson for which the simple words 'thank you' will never ever be enough.  I am deeply sorry that Belle's time with you here on earth was so short.  She is such a special and beautiful girl and I only had to read this site to know that Belle chose well when choosing you as her family.  My heartfelt thoughts are with you.

Precious Belle I thank you for helping me to keep safe two precious little girls who mean the world to me just like you mean the world to your Mummy, your Daddy, your sisters and all your family and friends.  Each and every time I buckle my nieces into their harnessed seats I will think of you.  I am forever in debt to you Belle.  Fly high with the Angels precious girl.

I cherish you still and have you tucked up under my heart and I carry you with me there always. I do believe that you would never want any of us to be sad, because you never liked to be sad and I do believe that you're creating something good for all the children.

People will be safer because of you, Belle, and I hope that your message reaches the world and parents will reflect on their precious children and how short our time really is.

I would just like to thank you for educating parents on such an important matter. I was only last week shopping for a booster seat for my 3 year old son, thankfully at the time i couldnt find one i liked. After visiting this site i will now keep him in his "baby seat" until he grows out of it. I had no idea that this could happen, and what a tragic way for us to all learn about it. My 6yo is in a Britax Husky (now called the Regent) and I plan to order one for my 5yo today after seeing your video. We weren't sure whether to move the 6yo up to a booster, but honestly, I feel the Regent is a super safe, stirdy, protective seat and think we will stick with it until they are 8yo. I just wanted to know your story is resonating with many, many people and Isabelle is saving lives.
